I am an assistant professor in the Infocomm Technology Cluster at the Singapore Institute of Technology, where I teach software engineering and mathematics. I previously taught in the computer science and information systems programmes at Victoria University Sydney.
I received a PhD from the School of Information Technologies at the University of Sydney in 2001, and was afterwards a research fellow in multimedia security at the School of Computer Science and Software Engineering at the University of Wollongong and iCore Information Security Lab at the University of Calgary. I was later a software engineer at the Queensland University of Technology Library and Intersect.
My principal interests are digital rights management, digital libraries and open data. At the University of Wollongong and University of Calgary, I published research in copyright protection, privacy, digital watermarking, and the security of electronic healthcare records. I've since written a few book chapters on digital rights management, mostly co-authored with Rei Safavi-Naini. At the Queensland University of Technology and Intersect, I developed software to support the publication and sharing of scholarly articles and data.
Many of my research publications are available for download from the links on this web site. Please contact me for further information about anything I have done.Nicholas Sheppard
